For over 30 years, the Santa Fe Institute<\/a> in New Mexico has sought to discover, comprehend, and communicate the common fundamental principles underlying complex systems of all types, providing new understanding of profound scientific and societal challenges. This private, not-for-profit, independent research institute and education center, recognized as the birthplace of the science of complex adaptive systems, supports transdisciplinary collaboration among researchers and students from around the world.  Several ASU scholars are on the external faculty of SFI or are former SFI postdoctoral fellows.  These jointly affiliated scholars and other ASU researchers form the core of the emerging complex systems research and education enterprise at Arizona State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\n\n

Capitalizing on the growing ties between our organizations, we launched the ASU-SFI Center for Biosocial Complex Systems in 2014.  This new Center, poised to become a major international incubator of solution-driven transdisciplinary research, brings together scholars from one of the country’s most innovative research universities with experts from SFI\u2019s worldwide community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located on ASU\u2019s Tempe campus, the ASU-SFI Center for Biosocial Complex Systems is pursuing joint research and educational programs, which will occur at both ASU and SFI, to broaden and enhance opportunities for stakeholders at both organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
